A special event dedicated to Francis Ford Coppola is the pre-opening of the Rome Film Festival and Alice nella città On Monday, October 14th, Cinecittà Studios, thanks to the Ministry of Culture, will host the Italian premiere of Megalopolis: the director will introduce the screening.
The event will be broadcasted live in Sala Petrassi at the Auditorium Parco della Musica for the public and accredited guests. On Tuesday, October 15th, the Maestro will attend a meeting with the juries of Alice nella città, film school students and the public at the Auditorium Parco della Musica
On Monday, October 14th, the iconic Cinecittà Studios, thanks to the Ministry of Culture, will host the Italian premiere of Megalopolis, the most recent work by master Francis Ford Coppola, the great director and author of masterpieces such as the The Godfather saga, Apocalypse Now and Dracula by Bram Stoker.
This event will be the pre-opening for the Rome Film Festival and Alice nella città 2024. Distributed in Italy by Tarak Ben Ammar’s Eagle Pictures, the film will be introduced by Coppola himself.
The event can also be followed in live streaming from Sala Petrass in the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone in order to allow accredited guests and the public of the Film Festival to witness the launch of the new visionary fairy tale created by the director.
During the evening in Cinecittà, a special tribute will be paid to the great Italian-American director who returns, after many years, to the Roman studios which hosted him whilst preparing some of the scenes of The Godfather Part III.
The following day, Tuesday October 15th, Francis Ford Coppola will meet the juries of Alice nella città, film school students and the public in Sala Sinopoli at the Auditorium Parco della Musica: during this meeting, organized by Alice nella città in collaboration with the Rome Film Festival, the director will retrace over sixty-years of his career, making him one of the most important and celebrated masters of the Seventh Art. On the same day, the Mayor of Roma Capitale, Roberto Gualtieri, will receive Coppola in Campidoglio to dedicate him with a special tribute from the city.
Megalopolis will be in theatres from October 16th and will be distributed in Italy by Eagle Pictures, Tarak Ben Ammar’s company. The movie is written, directed and produced by Francis Ford Coppola and includes cast members Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne.
SYNOPSIS
A genius artist, with the power to stop time, fights an ultraconservative mayor to save a dying world and inspire hope. Megalopolis is a Roman Epic set in an imaginary modern America. The City of New Rome is changing, causing sour conflicts between Cesar Catilina, a genius artist who seeks to leap into a utopian and idealistic future, and his nemesis, Mayor Franklyn Cicero, a reactionary who remains committed to a regressive status quo and is greedy and corrupt. Julia Cicero, the Mayor’s daughter, being in love with Cesar Catilina, is torn between choosing whom to trust with her loyalty and asking herself what she truly believes humanity deserves.
